Today we alternated between being right along the coast and veering slightly inland into the forest. So, lots of gorgeous views.

About 15 miles into our day’s ride, we slipped back in time, much to our dismay.

Turned out, it was just a roadside attraction: Prehistoric Gardens. We wanted a brief break, so paid the fee to wander through the “park”. It felt like a low-budget set for Jurassic Park.

More impressive than the dinosaur models were the actual, real-life plants. Some really did look like they could have existed 200 million years ago! The ferns were enormous and the trees were 300 years old. There were also plants with leaves as large as our legs.

The sign welcoming us to Gold Beach peeked through the right pylon of the Issac Lee Patterson Bridge (that we walked across on the sidewalk).

Since tomorrow’s route will have no services, we spent the evening finding dinner for the night as well as lunch and dinner to bring with us. We debated whether or not we also needed a couple of crystals.
